Masks and Modernité: Dogon Now

Worn in dances during agricultural and funerary ceremonies and performances for tourists, the surreal and colorful masks of Dogon peoples in the Bandiagara region of Mali are globally renowned cultural icons. Curator of Collections Paul R. Davis presents film excerpts of these dances and talks with scholars Polly Richards and Isaïe Dougnon on the visual history of Dogon masks and their contemporary signi cance within a changing social landscape.
