As part of the Menil Collection’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the Menil Contemporaries will hold Surreal Soirée. This ticketed event will be a black-tie evening celebrating the spirit of Surrealism, one of the most iconic artistic movements represented in the museum’s permanent collection. The event is co-chaired by Saba Jawda, Sarah Jawda, and Olivia and Edward Persia.
Guests are encouraged to incorporate avant-garde and whimsical elements symbolic of the genre into their attire, and Surrealist touches will permeate the entirety of the event.
Surrealism serves as the inspiration for hors d’oeuvres by Jackson and Company and specialty cocktails, as well as the décor by Bergner and Johnson. Guests will enjoy dancing, a photo booth, and face painting, as a nod to the legendary Surrealist ball hosted by Marie-Hélène de Rothschild in 1972. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to explore the galleries of the main Renzo Piano-designed museum building at the event.
All ticket and sponsorship proceeds benefit the Menil Contemporaries Fund, a crowdsourcing effort to establish a permanent, endowed fund that will support neighborhood greening—helping to ensure the development, maintenance, and preservation of the Menil’s green spaces for years to come.
