Members Noontime Talk: Surrealism

Did you know that we frequently rotate works from the permanent collection on view in the main building? Our Surrealism galleries have an entirely new installation of paintings, sculptures, and historic journals that range in date from 1920 to 1970. The display highlights lesser-known aspects of Surrealism, such as its engagement with painted abstraction. It includes one of Magritte’s very earliest paintings, Head of a Man, and Dorothea Tanning’s kaleidoscopic postwar canvas Tourists of Prague, which recently returned from the artist’s retrospective in Spain and England, and is pictured here.

Held every Friday for a small group, Member Noontime Talks make exhibitions more intimate and reveal the collection as never before. To sign up, please RSVP to membership@menil.org. If you are not currently a Menil Member, you can learn more and join here.

Members Noontime Talks are generously supported by Frost Bank.
