Join Danielle Bennett, Curatorial Associate, for a walkthrough of the latest rotation of the Ancient World galleries. The rotation includes two bronze plaques from the area of the Caucasus mountain range as well four cylinder seals used in administrative practices of Mesopotamia, which have recently undergone detailed study and have never previously been on view. Other highlights include the return of the wine cooling vessel (psykter) to the gallery after conservation work alongside other Greek ceramics that allow for discussions of ancient artisans, workshops, and the Greek god of wine, Dionysos. Together all of the objects in the rotation are united by ideas about art mediating personal interactions and ties to spiritualism.
